Meet Marggie

My little girl said to me the one day, "Mom, what's it like to be you?" A million things ran through my mind! But the quickest and most honest answer I could come up with was, "Blessed, baby! I'm very blessed for so many reasons. One, is because I get to be your mama!" She giggled and replied, "I wanna be just like you when I grow up!" If you're a mama, you know that my heart swelled right then and there! There are so many adjectives I could use to describe myself, both negative and positive, but even after I had time to think about it more, blessed was a perfect answer. My life is certainly not perfect, but I honestly cannot complain!

I am a former labor and deliver nurse turned into a newborn photographer! How on earth? Well, the short version is that my love for photography and newborns collided about 8 years into my nursing career and BOOM, here I am!

"If you don't value yourself, no one else will."

I'd venture to guess that your birthday, like your actual BIRTH day is the only true ONCE IN A LIFETIME event you'll have in your life. You literally cannot do it again. This is what makes it so special to capture. The tiny toes, the squishy baby back fat (my absolute fave), the happiest big bro or sister holding you, your mom glowing in my lens while holding you (we don't have to tell anyone that that's probably just postpartum sweat, ha!). What I wouldn't give to be able to go back and look at all the moments of me! My generation isn't that lucky though! We got the lay flat on your back and squeeze your eyes closed because of these extremely bright lights and there ya go! There's you as a newborn. Seriously, this is what we got. Here's mine. You're welcome.

Luckily, newborn photography evolved...or became, not sure you can ever say that was "newborn photography". Now, we have the luxury of freezing all of these special moments within those first weeks of life. Images that will be passed down from generation to generation comparing to a new baby in the distant future, "Oh wow, she's a spitting image of her great grandmother!" I mean how cool, right? Aside from the adorable, human squish you bring me, this is what I love most! It's freezing these precious moments for you and generations to come that bring me to the studio every day! I GET TO do that for you!

The Hubby

Aniston, she's my10 going on 16 year old diva. She's stronger than I'll ever be, too smart for her own good, and sweet 90% of the time. Her sass will put anyone in their place and her eyes will make you fall in love with her instantly. She's all in with All-Star Cheer and that keeps us very busy!

Benten, he's my 7 year old baby, my mini me, my spitfire, my tender heart. The boy will melt your heart with his charm, but don't let him fool you. He's ALL BOY and sports are life. He can make play calls and penaltys with the best of them. Watch out NFL, he's on his way ;) He's also very active in wrestling!

Saying, "Yes!" to this man was the best decision I have ever made! He's my side kick, my bestie, my partner in crime, my better half, my biggest cheerleader, the calm to my storm, my everything. We married on the beach in 2011 and haven't stopped falling in love since.

Marggie's Must Haves

In no particular order

Caffeine

In either the form of coffee, diet coke, or the occasional cotton candy Bang, energy drink! Going to Starbucks? Great! I swear your images will turn out better if you bring me a Venti Skinny Cinnemon Dolce Latte!

Yup! If you could lay on the couch all day, not showered, in your pj's, having a F·R·I·E·N·D·S marathon, while eating whatever Door Dash brings us! Oh, and you must be able to recite all the greatest lines on point!

  1. Cussing. Sometimes I cuss like sailor. I promise to be on my best behavior around your sweet babies!

  2.  Diet Coke. Enough said.

  3. Finding time for ME! I'm really bad at remembering to take care of me so that I can be my best self for everyone else. I'm working on it...kinda.

  4. Driving. I'm the world's worst. You've been warned, ride at your own risk and no complaining!

  5. Sugar! I looooove me some dessert, or candy, or cookies, or cake. All of it. Give me all of it.

  6. Not keeping my mouth shut when I probably should. I'm a tell it like it is kinda gal, especially to those I love. The good news is you can always trust that you will get the straight up truth from me. The bad news? I might tell you, even if you didn't ask for it...but only if I think it'll help. Just stop talking, Marggie, just stop.
