Designing Your Milestone Board

Our Cake Smash sessions include everything you need! We like to take the weight and stress off the shoulders of mom's, so putting together everything for a cake smash session is all us. Do we love it?... YES!

That means we even take care of the milestone boards we typically have displayed in our sets. We are always flattered when clients think we made the milestone boards as they take lots of skill and a steady hand. Unfortunately, neither of us have those combined skills in our toolbox! That's where Katy at FreezeFrame comes in! I don't know if you have noticed but she is pretty amazing!! Each board surprises us because they truly get better and better every time! Here are some of our faves!

When it comes to picking the info on the board, it can be hard to know what to include on there! After the cake smash, the milestone board is all yours so we suggest putting the things you really want to remember about your little one at their one year milestone. Let me tell you, the older they get, the further away those little characteristics that built their personality seem to be! Marggie has all of her kids boards still so that she can display them at their graduation parties in the future! If you are drawing a blank, here are some of our most popular prompts:

I love...

I can...

Favorite song...

Favorite food

Nicknames...

Height...

Weight...

Number of teeth...

I can say...

Birthdate...

I am...

Those should be enough to overflow your milestone board! You don't even have to stick to those prompts. It's your board so anything you would like to include for memories is great. Be detailed so that down the road you can giggle at the adorable things your little one used to do or say!

Another thing to decide for your board is the board color. Typically they are black but we do also offer white boards and sometimes those match your set better than the black board. If you have a very light and airy set or a set with lots of flowers and girly props, I will let you know what my suggestion is for the color of your board. Both black and white make the colors pop!

If you can't find an exact design that you love or there are none on Pinterest that match your theme, that's more than okay! We often have clients just send us the layout they like along with the colors they would like to use and we pass it along to Katy along with your theme so she can do her thing and tie it all together! She has truly never disappointed us with her creativity and artistic hand! Just recently she even nailed this Harry Potter style font. To say we were amazed would be an understatement!

If you are doing a cake smash with us, we can't wait to put things together for you. As you can see, the possibilities are endless! Don't stress about this part and don't be afraid to ask questions or make special requests! After all, this is our job and we kind of do this every day ;) We are always happy to help you!
